MAJOR DUTIES:

Present interpretive and educational talks, walks, tours, demonstrations, structured and impromptu talks, and various other programs to diverse audiences following prescribed outlines. Guide groups on tours of the site while effectively communicating accurate resource and historical information. Staff the park visitor center/information desk and serve as a front-line representative of the organization, welcoming visitors and answering a variety of visitor questions in a professional and courteous manner. Assist in preparing interpretive displays and written content for print and electronic publication. Perform various administrative duties such as recording and reporting visitor statistics and gathering information for reports. Educate visitors regarding rules, regulations, and safety concerns to ensure visitor safety and preservation of natural and cultural resources. Conduct cooperating association sales, properly accounting for funds. Respond to visitor information requests received by mail, email, and telephone, providing information orally and/or in writing. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-04/14/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-04 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-03 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
oral presentation of historical, scientific, or program information to groups; or developing and/or revising technical, historical, or scientific information for oral presentation to groups. You must include hours per week worked. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects such as American history, science, and/or public speaking. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
